Library Blog - https://cathywalker1.edublogs.org/

The library services students from Preschool to Year 6 once a week during formal library lessons. Students are encouraged to borrow a book each week that connects to their interests to increase leisure reading time. School library bags are available from the uniform shop for $5. The library is open at lunch time for students to engage in a quiet activity and relax in a calm environment. The resources within the library cater to differentiated learning needs throughout the school, while also stocking popular novels and the latest picture books. The library collection is monitored and restocked to maintain up to date and useful resources for students and staff to utilise.

This Semester in the library we have been focusing on author studies. Early Stage 1 have been looking at Julia Donaldson, Stage 1 at Oliver Jeffers and Stage 3 at David Walliams. Students have enjoyed engaging with a number of stories from these Authors, as well as comprehension, creative art and writing lessons.

Next Term we will be focusing on our Book Week theme of 'Find Your Treasure'. In week 6 we will celebrate book week and there will be many exciting things happening that week! We will be having a visit from a surprise author to speak to the students, we will be holding a classroom door decorating competition, the annual book fair will be in the library, and there will also be a number of competitions for students to enter!

Looking forward to another exciting term in the library,

Mrs Cooper and Mrs Walker
