Our Preschool

Our Principles, Practice and Outcomes 

The five principles, which underpin our practice, are:

1. Secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships with children and families.
2. Partnerships with children, families, primary school and other professionals.
3. High expectations and equity.
4. Respect for diversity.
5. Ongoing learning and reflective practice. 

Our practice is always:

• Holistic
• Responsive to children
• Planned and play based
• Filled with opportunity for intentional teaching
• Physical and social learning environments have a positive impact on children's learning
• Working to extend our own and children's cultural competence, valuing diversity in all forms
• Providing for continuity in experiences and enabling children to have success.
• Assessment for children's learning in each of the dive identified learning outcomes. 

The five learning outcomes we assess progress in and plan for are:

1. Children have a strong sense of identity.
2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
4. Children are confident and involved learners.
5. Children are effective communicators.

Session Times 2019

Preschool Session Times:

Seahorse Group: Monday, Tuesday & alternate Wednesdays 8:50am – 2:50pm. 

Pelican Group: Every other Wednesdays, Thursday & Friday 8:50am – 2:50pm. 

Dates of Operation 2019

Starting days for children at Guliyali Preschool for the year of 2019:

Pelican Group: Half Day Orientation is on 31st Jan and First full day 1st February.

Seahorse Group: Half Day Orientation is on 5th February and First full day 6th February. 

Finishing date for children at Guliyali Preschool for the year of 2019:

Seahorse Group: Last day is 11 December.

Pelican Group: Last day is 13 December. 

School holidays as per NSW DoE school terms:

Term 1; April 15th – April 26th 

Term 2; July 8th – July 19th

Term 3; September 30th – Oct 11th

Term 4; December 23th – January 27th 2020. 

Guliyali Preschool is closed on designated DoE Staff Development Days:

Jan 29th, April 29th, July 22nd and Dec 19th and 20th.
