Jenolan Caves News update

LAST MINUTE JENOLAN CAVES NEWS- Thursday 9^th / 10^th August

Time is fast approaching! Our long awaited trip to Jenolan Caves is nearly here! Thank you to everyone who has finalised payment, which must be done before boarding the bus. Reminders will be sent early next week if you haven't yet paid the balance of the total $245.

We will be sleeping overnight at Heritage Park, a sheep and cattle station outside Bathurst. The students will be grouped in cabins and very strictly monitored throughout the stay. All students will have a buddy. This person will sit with them on the bus and act as peer support to each other. The staff will then group the buddy pairs together and form cabin groups. This will not be organised by the students themselves. They will find out who is in their cabin when we arrive at Heritage Park. Over many years of organising and implementing this excursion, Mrs Rayner has found this to be the best system to alleviate anxiety over cabin placement. The staff has had vast experience in managing students on overnight excursions and will make collaborative decisions about where students are placed. If you have any major concerns about your child's cabin groups please put those concerns in writing and forward them to Mrs Rayner ASAP.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER

• Travel sickness tablets to be taken half an hour before departure. (Bring extra tablets for the return journey home)
• Be at school no later than 6:00am to board the bus and depart at 6:15am
• Assemble in bus lines at school under the bus shelter.
• Bring packed lunch and recess in a disposable bag. This needs to be taken onto the bus is a small pack. Also bring a drink bottle.
• Bring a warm jumper or coat and take it onto the bus with you.
• Sleeping bags and pillows are not required, though you may bring a small travel pillow with you. Pleas only pack clothes in a small bag. No large suitcases please.
• Any medications need to be itemised and labelled clearly with dosage and name of the student. This is to be handed to Ms Elliot before boarding the bus.
• Souvenir money ($5-20) is to be securely sealed in an envelope with the student's name and the amount inside clearly labelled on the front. Ms Rodgers will collect this before boarding the bus!
